For Golfers Who Shoot in the 90’s
Pillar #2 – Short is Wrong, Long is Right
The Hard Truth
When planning each approach shot you face, your goal is not too get it ‘close to the pin.’ Your goal is ‘no disasters.’ That starts with picking a club that reaches the green, even on a slight mishit. Ensuring your approach shot finds any part of the green. Versus missing the green.
Do This Now
• Aim at center green or safe side.
• Take enough club to cover front trouble. And understand how much green you have to work with to the back of the green.
• If you’re between clubs, take the longer club and swing smooth.
• A long fringe putt beats a short bunker splash.

Quick Drill
• Practice: play to the ‘center of the green’ on the range. Imagine a green and aim middle every time. No exceptions. Take the right club to ensure you hit the middle of the green with your normal swing.
