Blow Up Holes and How Golf Courses Don’t Have Feelings!

You Do (That’s what Causes Your Blow Up Holes)

Pillar #5 – Know Thyself

The Hard Truth

The course is not ‘out to get you.’ It’s dirt and grass.

Your emotions are what cause your ‘blow-up holes,’ and in turn, blow up your scores. Stop blaming the hole for your blow-up holes. Stop blaming the golf course as the cause of your blow up holes. And start taking ownership of the fact that you can’t manage yourself.

Do This Now

• After a bad shot: take a breath and name the next task (target, club, swing).
• No whining, no drama. Drama is strokes.
• Treat each shot like a new job. The last job is over. The next job requires you to keep par in play.

Whether after a blow up hole or in the middle of one, hitting the reset button can mean the difference between more blow up holes and you righting your ship mid-round.

Quick Drill

• Use a reset phrase: “Next shot only.” Say it every time you get angry.
