Decide Behind the Ball and Execute at the Ball!
IGI Pillar 1 – Take Dead Aim
The Hard Truth
Do you like overthinking?
If you’re still deciding what to do with any golf shot while you’re standing over the golf ball, you’re late. Your late to decide. and late decisions create shaky swings and bad contact.
Decide behind the ball. It’s what a pre shot routine is all about!
Execute at the ball. Your only task when set up to hit the ball is…hit the ball! That’s it!
Stop overthinking! You’ll wear out whatever’s between your two ears.
Do This Now
- Behind the ball: pick target, pick shape, pick club.
- Take ONE rehearsal swing if needed, then step in.
- At the ball: one look at target, eyes back to ball, swing.
- No re-aiming. No panic edits.

Quick Drill
Do 9-hole ‘routine only’ rounds: score doesn’t matter. Your routine does.
