Small Targets Shrink Dispersion

And Your Ego

IGI Pillar 1What is Your Target and Are You Aimed to Hit It?

The Hard Truth

Big targets let you be lazy. Lazy aim creates big misses. That’s why your dispersion looks like a shotgun pattern.

Smaller targets force better focus and a cleaner setup.

These comparisons of dispersion patterns using FlightScope’s X3 Unit show that when using an exact and small target, you can decrease the size of your dispersion patterns, leading to Instant Golf Improvement!

Do This Now

  • Pick a target you can ‘split’ (edge, corner, stripe).
  • Aim the clubface at that edge, not the object.
  • Accept the discomfort. That discomfort is you getting better.

Quick Drill

Practice: 20 shots total. All shots must use small targets. Such as the ‘left edge’ or ‘right edge’ of a bigger target. Keep your visual focus on the small target the entire time. We bet your dispersion patterns get very tight using this method of aiming at small targets.

Instant Golf Improvement, Small Targets Shrink Dispersion
Picking out a yardage sign for a target is better than not having a target at all when practicing your golf skills. But what if you chose an even smaller target, such as the corner of a yardage sign? We bet your dispersion patterns get even smaller when you do.
