Pick a Real Target Every Shot
Pillar 1 – Take Dead Aim
The Hard Truth
Here’s the tough truth. The ‘fairway’ is not a target. It’s a vague wish. Vague wishes produce vague swings.
Stop ‘kind of aiming’ and start aiming on purpose!
If you want instant improvement, stop walking into shots without a specific destination. Your brain can’t hit what you don’t define.

Do This Now
- Stand behind the ball and pick a SMALL target (edge of a tree trunk, a dark leaf clump, a sprinkler head).
- Name it out loud: “Left edge of that trunk.” That’s commitment.
- Aim the clubface first. Then build your feet around the face.
- If you can’t describe your target in 5 words, you don’t have one.
Quick Drill
On the range: hit 10 balls with ONE club. Every shot must have a specific target. Track your ‘good misses’. Meaning, the not-so-perfect shots that are landing within a reasonable distance of the target you picked. Those are the shots that make up the majority of the shots for you to experience Instant Golf Improvement!
