What You Can Expect
3:1
The ratio that never slips
Every school publishes a ratio. Read it carefully. Almost always it describes the range, in the morning, on a good day. Then the afternoon arrives. And you’re on your own, or you’re buying a playing lesson, or you could be one of eight people following a coach down a fairway.
Nine golfers come to an IGI school. Three coaches come with them. That math holds on the range, at lunch, and on the golf course both afternoons. No hour of the two days changes.
14
Hours, not half-days
Fourteen coached hours over two days. The nearest school on this chart is thirteen. Two of them are six. Six hours means three-hour mornings. It means you fly to Florida, take two days off work, book two nights of hotel, and spend a quarter of your waking time being coached.
We start at 8:30 and we’re still on the golf course in the afternoon. Even lunch is a briefing.
18
Holes played with your coach
Nine holes each afternoon, in a shamble format, with your coach walking beside your group of three. Because a range ball on flat grass with no consequence is not golf. Golf is an uphill lie, a back pin, wind off the left, and a decision you must make before you can hit anything.
You can’t coach that on a mat. So we don’t try.
∞
Unlimited follow-up. We don't disappear.
Most golf schools end when you pull out of the parking lot. Ours doesn’t.
Video lessons. Swing reviews when you send us video. Phone, email, chat, and text. Unlimited, included in your tuition, with no subscription attached to it.
Nothing to renew. Nothing to cancel. Nothing that quietly switches off in ninety days.
Where Those 14 Hours Actually Go
A typical day at the IGI Golf School
Opening session. What the two days are for, what we’re measuring, and what we are not going to do to your golf swing.
Stations. You rotate through coaching stations in your group of three. FlightScope on the full swing, a gapping session for your scoring clubs from 9 iron through the wedges, putting circles and lag ladders, and work on the shot you actually face most often.
Lunch with your coach. Not a break. This is where the morning gets reviewed and the afternoon gets planned, over a meal that’s included in your tuition.
Nine holes. A shamble on a championship course, your coach with your group the whole way. Real lies, real decisions, real consequences.
Debrief and write-up. What changed, what the numbers say, and what goes in your handbook to take home.
Why isn't Instant Golf Improvement the cheapest golf school on the chart?
We’re not going to dance around it. At $1,999, we sit at the top of that price column. One golf school on the chart is $750.
But here’s the arithmetic that matters. Take what a golf school costs, divide it by the hours a coach is actually with you, then divide again by the number of golfers sharing that coach. That gives you the price of one undivided coaching attention hour. It’s the only comparison that survives contact with a brochure.
Golf School C. Six hours at four to one. That’s 90 minutes of undivided coaching attention across two days, or $500 an hour.
Golf School B. Six hours, no golf course. $1,247 an hour.
Who is teaching me?
A fair question, and one you should ask every golf school on your list.
Every IGI coach is personally certified by John Hughes. He founded IGI, he wrote the method in Instant Golf Improvement: The 6 Pillars to Golf Success, and he is the only person who certifies anyone to teach it. There’s one standard; it’s written down, and nobody coaches an IGI school without meeting it.
Across the certified staff, there’s more than 100 years of coaching experience, with multiple award winners among them. That’s not a marketing department handing out the word guru. That’s a credential you can check.
Three questions to ask any golf school before you pay
Who is my coach, and what has that coach actually done?
Every school will tell you their instructor is excellent. Ask for the specifics instead: years teaching, PGA classification, awards, who else they coach. Marketing departments hand out titles. Credentials are earned, published, and you can check them in about five minutes.
How many hours will a coach actually be standing next to me, and how many golfers will be sharing them?
Take the coached hours and divide by golfers per coach. A three-hour morning at four-to-one is forty-five minutes of anyone’s attention. Do that arithmetic on every golf school you are considering.
What happens after I go home, and does it cost extra?
Most golf schools end when you drive out of the parking lot. Ask whether follow-up is included, whether it is a subscription, and what happens to it when you stop paying.
Questions Golfers Ask Us
Are you going to rebuild my golf swing?
No. There’s exactly one mechanics drill in the entire two days, and that’s deliberate. Two days is nowhere near long enough to tear a swing down and build a better one, and any school that tells you otherwise is selling you a project you’ll finish alone in your garage. We coach to play better, have more fun, and reduce your scores with the swing you own right now. That’s a different promise, and it’s one we can actually keep by Sunday afternoon.
What exactly do I take home?
The IGI Golfer’s Handbook, with your own notes from every station, the drills you worked on, a written practice plan, and a full and half carry chart for your scoring clubs, 9 iron through your wedges, measured on FlightScope. Those are the clubs that decide your score, so those are the clubs we measure first. If there’s time on day two, we’ll gap the rest of your bag as well. Most golfers come home from a golf school with a swing thought. Swing thoughts have a shelf life of about nine days. Numbers don’t.
What does "unlimited follow-up" actually mean?
It means you can send us video of your swing and get it reviewed. It means video lessons. It means phone, email, chat, and text when something isn’t working. It’s included in your tuition; there’s no subscription behind it, and there’s nothing to cancel. If you want to check the small print, there isn’t any.
Where is the school held?
Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. You’ll spend your mornings in the practice complex and your afternoons on a championship golf course, which is the whole point of the format.
Is lodging included?
No. Tuition covers the coaching, both lunches, both afternoons of golf, your handbook, and your follow-up. You book rooms directly with the resort. We’d rather be straight with you about that than bundle a room into the price and call it a saving.
Will I be coached with people far better or worse than me?
Before you arrive, we send every golfer a player profile. It tells us who you are as a golfer and where you most need help, and we use it to match you with the coach who is the best fit for you. You’re then in a group of three with that coach for both days, so the coaching is aimed at you regardless of who else is on the property.
How many golfers are in a school?
Nine. That’s a firm cap on the entire program, not a target we quietly stretch when a tenth golfer calls. Two golfers is enough for a school to run. And every date is held at the same location, which is a large part of why the program is the same program every time you attend one.
