Full Swing Set Up – Hybrid Set-Up Basics
Hybrid Set Up Basics
Hybrids are great golf clubs to use as a replacement for longer irons. Hybrids are easier to hit. Easier to launch the ball higher in the air. And easier to travel as far if not farther than your long irons. But to do so, understanding the hybrid set up basics is necessary. Hybrid Set Up Basics is similar to setting up for a Fairway Wood shot, with some alterations. Take a journey with IGI’s Director of Instruction and Founder, John Hughes, and learn how you can set up properly to all your hybrid shots.
Basis Set Up is Key for All Shots, Including a Hybrid
Cut off your head and what are you left with, your body. A machine. And if any machine is not set up correctly before turning it on, the product made by that machine won’t be very good. But what makes a hybrid different from all other clubs? Almost from the beginning, at the :52 second mark, the basics design characteristics if a hybrid are explained. You’ll learn why you can hit this club farther than your longer irons, with more accuracy.
Alignment is the Key to Hybrid Set Up, Like any other Club
Without alignment, you’re aimed in the wrong direction. Golf is a game of targets, requiring you to aim properly. At the 2:34 mark of the video, you’ll receive a review of proper alignment.
Other Key Hybrid Set Up Positions
At the 2:50 mark of the video, John begins to detail the subtle differences between a normal set up and setting up to hit a hybrid. By adjusting your feet positions you’ll achieve better balance.
Ball position is a critical factor detailed at the 3:08 mark. Great ball position will insure your swing bottom will make impact with the ball in the most efficient way possible. If the ball position is too far forward or too far back in your stance, wayward shot patterns will occur due to the direction or “path” the club takes to get to the ball at impact. John provides you a couple of items you have on you daily to use as a guide for finding your best ball position possible.
Hybrids do not Require a Special Swing
Most average amateur golfers believe that once you achieve the proper hybrid set up positions, you can not take a different swing that makes the hybrid work better. No way! You’re one golfer. How easy is it to remember one swing’s thoughts? Now you’d like to remember 14 different swings?
Swinging a hybrid is like swinging all other clubs. Because you’ve altered your set up position due to having a hybrid in your hand, you’re now ready to hit awesome hybrid shots. It’s hard enough being you and making one swing. Rely on your Hybrid Set Up Basics to put you and your body in the correct positions prior to swinging, so you golf swing is more efficient. Find out more at the 4:19 mark of the video.
More Hybrids Anyone?
Some of the world’s best players are replacing their long irons, 2, 3, sometimes their 4 or even 5 irons, with hybrids. Why? Because like you, hybrids are easier hit, easier to get in the air, and can carry longer distances than long irons. Listen at the 4:35 mark of this video for a story about arguably the greatest female golfer ever having the majority of her clubs as hybrids. Afterward, give serious consideration to doing the same within your club set to achieve better results.
